The swim club members and parents want to invite YOU to an end of the year celebration of our first year in operation.

Our swimmers are baking cookies, serving hot chocolate, and helping you select, drag, and carry your Douglas Fir tree to your vehicle. Cookies are 50 cents and smiles are free.
There should be signs on 16th and 272nd to direct you to the last house/farm on 12 B avenue.
The weather promises to be a cool wintery day so bring warm clothes

This is another in our unique fundraising programs to raise money for the swim club. We will be hosting our first Regional Meet at the ACCUC next year, the last weekend in May.

Hosted at 12B Christmas Tree Farm, 27586 12B Ave., Aldergrove, BC

2020 Provincial Championships Announcement
August 21, 2019
The BC Summer Swimming Association is pleased to announce that the 2020 Provincial
Championships will be hosted at the University of British Columbia Aquatic Centre.
The Championships, which will take place from August 18 – 23, 2020, will bring together more
than 2,000 athletes from across the province for a week-long multi-sport competition. Athletes will
have the opportunity to compete in a world-class facility that houses the UBC Varsity Swim Team and
the Swimming Canada High-Performance Centre.
The University of British Columbia has been a historic supporter of the BCSSA. The very first
Provincial Championship Swimming and Dive meet were held at the UBC Empire Pool in 1958. Since
then, the BCSSA has returned to the Vancouver campus numerous times to host the associations’
pinnacle competition. After celebrating the BCSSA’s 60th Anniversary, it seems fitting to return to the
location where our association was founded to start this next decade of success.
“The BCSSA is excited to be returning to UBC to hold our annual Provincial Championship meet.
The BCSSA got its start over 60 years ago at the UBC Empire pool and we held our year-end event
there for decades. We returned to use the ‘new’ indoor pool almost 20 years ago and we are now
about to hold our Championship meet in a third, different, swimming pool, at UBC. Members are
looking forward to reliving old memories from past championships on Campus ready to make new
ones for the new generation”. – Danny Schilds, BCSSA President
The UBC Department of Athletics and Recreation and Hospitality have a proven record of running
successful competitions as the hosts of the Mel Zajac International Swim Meet and the USports
Swimming National Championships. The BCSSA looks forward to working with UBC to provide
another successful event.
“We’re excited to welcome athletes and their families from communities across British Columbia.
Nestled in the heart of campus, the Aquatic Centre will play host to an amazing week of competition
at the annual gathering of one of the largest annual sports events in the province. As the event host,
UBC’s beautiful Point Grey campus provides a unique backdrop with accommodations, dining, and
socializing all taking place in one of the most beautiful spots in the country. On behalf of the campus
community, we look forward to hosting this annual event in 2020.” – Kavie Toor, Senior Director,
Facilities, Recreation and Sport Partnerships UBC Athletics
Hosting the Provincial Championships on the UBC Campus provides the BCSSA with a unique
opportunity to make the 2020 championship more than just a meet. Alongside special events during
the week, the location allows for the entire BCSSA community to stay in one location for the entirety
of the competition. In order to ensure that there are enough rooms allocated for our BCSSA teams,
we will be asking regions to provide the BCSSA with an approximate number of rooms that their
regions will require. Once this number has been confirmed, UBC will open the reservation website for
BCSSA bookings. Please do not inquire with UBC Conferences and Accommodation until an official
booking link is released by the BCSSA.
More information will be released after the 2019 October Provincial Board Meeting.
